Veronika Vítová Crew
Tribute to Evans. Vokal, P, HO, C, BG, D
www.veronikavitova.cz
Veronika Vitova was born in Prague, Czech republic. As a child she studied piano and singing. Anyway, jazz was not her profession first. She worked as a flight attendant for a long time, and discovered jazz music at the age of 28, when she decided to apply for a jazz vocal studies at Jaroslav Jezek College, and was accepted. Jazz started to change her life completely. She met wonderful musicians and created her own projects.
One of them is Tribute to Bill Evans. Veronika interprets compositions of this amazing pianist and composer with lightness and crystal clear intonation in her interesting voice.
There are some other worth-to-mention projects such as Skety - vocal acapella sextet, Soundcolor - a free improvisation trio with great Petr Zelenka on guitar and Martin Novak on drums and Tomas Mach on violin as a guest.
Veronika Vitova is also a regular guest of some big bands, such as Magnum Jazz Bigband or Vaclav Hybs orchestra.
In summer 2011 she took part of a prestigious Jazz Workshop in Banff, Canada under the leadership of Dave Douglas and faculties of many great jazz musicians and teachers (Anthony Wilson, Donny McCasslin, Robin Eubanks etc).
Veronika Vitova can be also seen regularly at Prague jazz venues with the best jazz musicians. She is one of the most talented young singers in Czech Republic nowadays.

Poetic Filharmony
Roman Hampacher (guitar), Roman Džačár (bassguitar), Martin Cikánek (minimoog voyager), Jan Červenka (drums)
Poetic Filharmony’s music is characterised mainly by wild improvization unrestrained by form, combined with thought-out compositional techniques partly inspired by contemporary classical music (polyrythmic and polytonal forms, musical collage, minimal music, aleatorics). At the base, there is a relentlessly beating rhythm, originating both from jazz-rock classics and modern dance styles, surrounded by a solid bigbeat guitar sound. An infinite diversity of sounds from the moog’s palette attack from all sides, ranging from classical leads and basses through various modulations and offshoots to utterly abstract and hardly describable sonic creations. Poetic Filharmony like to experiment and search for sounds yet unheard. Clear formalist curtness is as important for them as unstoppably rolling rough sound animality. Poetic Filharmony see their role model in such bands as Tribal Tech, Joe Zawinul Syndicate, late Miles Davis, Jojo Mayer or Mahavishnu . |

Adam Tvrdý Crossover Group
www.myspace.com/adamtvrdy
"Adam Tvrdy Crossover Group" was established in autumn 2009 in Prague first as a trio and soon thereafter upsized to the quartet. The band leader is guitarist Adam Tvrdy and together with a Hammond keyboardist and vocalist Jakub Zomer creates a core of the Group. The rhythm section consists of bassist Petr Dvorsky and drummer Jan Linhart.
This project was partly started as a tribute to a great group of Hammond organ player Jack McDuff and his recordings from the 60s, which involved back then very young George Benson. Another reason to crate this band was also a great desire to play blues and styles based directly on it. It also makes a bit of a contrast to all previous years of activity, which is for Adam Tvrdy mostly modern Jazz.
The group’s sound comes from the instrumentation of an electric guitar with a Hammond organ. This sound has already proved its timelessness and the group considers its possibilities endless. Genre is set between optimistically tuned J. McDuff’s songs, and blues standards with a small admixture of Jazz. The band’s playing is very dynamic and has a large range going from absolute calm to full energetic ferocity.
The home scene of Adam Tvrdy Crossover Group has been Ungelt Jazz & Blues Club and as a trio (guitar, Hammond, percussion) also performs regularly at the Jazz Boat Kotva.
In the future, the group plans to extend its repertoire, and also to perform more outside the capital city, at festivals, etc.

Leona Milla Band
www.myspace.com/leonamilla
Her singing is full of deep emotions. Seeing Leona on stage is always an occasion - unlike a large number of other musicians, notably those who perform a deeper genre such as jazz - Leona is not afraid to communicate with the audiance, poke a joke or tell a story to introduce a song. I guess it´s often the attitude that makes all the difference. Of course, she´s also an impressive singer - hearing her life is an uplifting and stirring event without fail. So for those of you who have a chance, go see her gig, it´s well worth the time.
The band consists of keyboard player Vítek Pospíšil, bass player Lukáš Kytnar and drummer Tomáš Hobzek. |
